

Born July 5, 1936 in Pekin to Harvey and Hadia (Neff) Goodwin, he married Joyce D. Milby on July 3, 1964 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Debbie (Randy) Bassette of Pekin; two grandchildren, Gabriel E. Bassette of Pekin and Jessie L. (James) O’Brien of St. Charles, MO; one brother, Harvey (Bea) Goodwin of Peoria and one sister, Evelyn (Norman) Morrison of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Randy Lee Goodwin on June 22, 1985 and Scott Dean Goodwin on October 31, 1967 and one brother.
He was a United States Army veteran serving in the Vietnam era.
Richard worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville for 47 years, retiring in 2000 from fabrication department in the wire mill.
He was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916. Richard loved fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He also enjoyed woodworking. He will be fondly remembered as a super, super dad who was very supportive of his grandchildren.
He was a member of Groveland Missionary Church, where his funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Pastor Tyler Boyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
