I had the good fortune of working with Rick at the Jamestown Sun in North Dakota in the mid-1970s. With similar likes, dislikes and passions, we hit it off immediately. 
I've wondered where life's path took Rick over the years, and am sorry to hear of his premature death. This troubled planet can ill-afford the loss of good men like Rick so early in life.

 Rick was a great conversationalist and raconteur. I enjoyed spending time with him while discussing politics, baseball, current events and newspapering.

My condolences to the family. Thanks be to God for Rick and others of his stripe. Peace be with you all.

I will miss your smile. It was a blessing to always see you, talk to you, spend time with you, call you not only my COUSIN but also my best friend. You was always there to listen and to support me and the help me if I needed heelp and I really thank you.  It really meat alot.  You always made me feel welcome (not an outsider -not good enough {and you know who always did that to me and some other family members thank goodness he is not around}).  And I appreciated your love too. Now you are in heaveen with the rest of the family and friends to be with and no more pain and suffering, just with better days ahead. I want to thank you for being there in the good andd bad times but mainly the good times of us enjoying the camping outings and the family get togethers as much as we could. I will really miss those times. I would also like to ssay to you that I look forward to the time when I will see you later in heaven too.  I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW. Love Cheryl but as you always called me Cherri ( the only ones that could call me that was you, Nancy, Zach, Josh, Aunt Eva and Uncle Bill no one else was or is still allowed to call me by Cherri)

May God ccomfort you during this difficult time.  Remember all the good times you had and remember he will always be in your heart and a part of your lives.  He will be your Angel from above and always watching over you. Now he is walking up there with the angels of heaven.  He will be greatly missed but we know he is now happy in Heaven with all our loved ones.  I weill miss the family get togethers and of course going to the campgrounds with you and himand the other campers. Butch will miss his fishing and camper buddy. You and him made it special and an enjoyable time to go and relax and reminise whether just you, Rick, Zach, Josh,Butch and I or with the other campers.  I am glad we had that time together. I know the void is very very hard that he has now left in our lives and yours but his love for you and the boys, plus Aunt Eva and Uncle Bill will help you get through these times.  You all have a special Angel now looking over you.  May God Bless all of you.  He will always be in my heart too.  I will newer forget him, his laughter his smile and his being there.
Even though Ricks life was still too short when he was taken from us and should have been with us a lot longer but God saw Rick getting tired so he sent an Angel to come to get him so he would not have to suffer no more. He has touched so many hearts.
Nancy, Zach and Josh You all have touched our hearts.  so you remember that Butch and I are here if you ever need us for anything anytime just do not hesitate to call.  Even if you just want girl time (cousin special time)let me know.

I am sorry for the loss of Uncle Rick, he was such a great guy.  Aunt Nancy, Josh, and Zach your family is here for you any time if you need us for anything.

Rick was a friend and fellow worker when we both were at Kingdon and Naven.  I always liked him and am sorry to learn of his passing.  He was a great guy.  My thoughts go out to his father whom I also know and to his family.

RICK WAS THE BEST, HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL

Rick was an outstanding person.  Even with his ongoing medical issues he did not slow down and let this affect his life.    He never stopped helping and contributing to our scouting troop.  He will trule be missed by all that were lucky enough to meet him and participate along side him.  He has 2 wonderful sons that I have met through scouting and my children, who could not have asked for a better father and person to be involved in their lives.

During my years in Product Support at Caterpillar our "paths" crossed many times.  We always enjoyed working together, and our informal "chats".  Rick was a wonderful person, and I considered him a good friend. I am very sorry for your loss.
