

Born June 8, 1955, in Peoria to Paul W. and Garnet (Palmer) Scott, he married Debra Carrington in 2003. She passed away on June 22, 2021. He was also preceded in death by both of his parents and a step-granddaughter, Madi Richardson.
Surviving are two children; Carrie (Jeff) Arahood of Mapleton and Ricky (Ashley) Scott, II of Glasford; three step-children, Leah “Rocky” (John) Richardson of Canton, Richard (Stephanie) Curry of Georgia and James Curry; nine grandchildren, Eli Scott, Ethan Scott, Joshua Vaughn, Jordynne Richardson, Jonas Curry, Brady Curry, Jacob Curry, Keegan Arahood and Koltyn Arahood; four siblings, Paula (Steve) Lance, Frankie Johnson, Bill Scott and Debra (Bill) Turner and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and his cat, Tigger.
Rick was a maintenance engineer at Lonza Chemical for 39 years, retiring in August 2013. He was a volunteer fireman for the Timber-Hollis Township Company #3 for 15 years. While there he served his community as a Fireman, Captain and lastly as the Assistant Chief.
He enjoyed anything outdoors and had several hobbies. Some of his favorites were; hunting, fishing, metal detecting, stock car racing, excavating bison bones and arrowheads, working on motors and going to auctions. He always enjoyed visiting with his family and friends as he never knew a stranger. His wit, humor and knowledge will be greatly missed by everyone that loved him.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton. Cremation has been accorded.
