

Born July 17, 1959 in Peoria to Robert Lee and Judith (Hannum) McCarthy, he married Laura McClanahan on September 7, 1991 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of East Peoria; two daughters, Catreena (Milton) Neuenschwander of Knoxville, Tennessee and Tiffany (Mitch) Post of Des Moines, Iowa; one son, Mitchell McCarthy of Des Moines, Iowa; four sisters, Kelli Kaestler of East Peoria, Tracy Wallace of Dayton, Ohio, Rachael (Michael) Patterson of St. Charles, Missouri, Camille (Von) McCarthy of Jacksonville, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Chris had served in the United States Navy.
He had worked for Bridgestone/Firestone in Bloomington as an electrician for the last five years. Prior to this, he had worked for Bemis Bag Company in Peoria as an electrician until their closing in 2006.
A loving husband & father, Chris was an avid reader and enjoyed home renovation. An adventurous person by nature, he also loved classic rock music, working out and riding his Harley. He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies and was known to have a sweet tooth.
His funeral will be on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Keith Moore will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
