Born August 14, 1933 in New Madrid, Missouri to Albert J. and Mabel (O’Dell) Holland, he married Marjorie Smith on October 31, 1958 in Kankakee. She died November 25, 1986. He later married Roberta (Carmack) Cramer on January 14, 1989 in Pekin. She died on January 11, 2013. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, one sister, two infant sisters, three nieces and two nephews.
Surviving are three daughters, Pamela (Mike) Adkins of Pekin, Judi Brookhart of Quincy and Michelle Waldrop of Lima; one son, Rev. Douglas (Mary) Sopher of Princeton; one step-son, Gary (Flo) Cramer of Peoria; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Bob retired from Caterpillar, Inc. after 37 years as a staff analyst, retiring on February 1, 1990.
He was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs and Duke Basketball. He was kindhearted, loved westerns and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed fishing and taking pride in his yardwork.
Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin. He was a 57-year member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Pekin and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. Pastor James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 5 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
