

Born October 16, 1931 in Oelwein, Iowa to Robert and Hazel (Clendenen) Reid, he married Marian Squier on April 1, 1951 at the Normandale Reformed Church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sally Anne Look of East Peoria; one son, John B. (Diane) Reid of Edelstein; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, John L. "Jack" (Betty) Reid of L'Anse, MI and Richard (Erna) Weldin of Anchorage, AK and one sister, Barbara Wagonsomer of Grosse Pointe, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War. He joined the Navy in 1951 and served as a mineman on Prudence Island, RI. Upon discharge from the Navy in 1955, he worked as a pressman at the Pekin Daily Times for 44 years. He was press foreman for a number of those years.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Robert loved the outdoors. Robert also had a hobby of building classic car models and won trophies for several of his models. He donated all his car models to Wheels o’ Time Museum in Dunlap.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
His memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
