

Born March 24, 1922 in Belltown to Curtis Jefferson and Edith (Gano) Crum, he married Catherine S. Craddock on March 6, 1954 in Havana. She died January 17, 1992 in Peoria. He also was prededed in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one step-daughter, Catherine (William) Hart of Peoria; two step-grandchildren, Jill C. (Jamin) Ramirez of Jefferson, Colorado and William Christopher (Janel) Hart of Bartonville; three step-great grandchildren, Sydney Hart, Kenzie Hart and Samuel Ramirez; and several nieces and nephews.
Rod served in the United States Army during World War II.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in Mapleton for 17 years in the foundry and the tech center, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of East Peoria and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Peoria.
He was a member of the Greater Peoria Amvets Post #64, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2078 in East Peoria, the East Peoria American Legion Post #983, 40 et 8 Voiture #1170 of Tazewell County, the Creve Coeur Lion’s Club, the United Auto Workers Local 974 Retiree's Club and the Caterpillar's Retiree's Club.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. The Rev. Garland Criswell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carter Cemetery in Carrollton, where military rites will be provided by the United States Army.
