Born on September 13, 1946, in Dover, New Jersey, Russ was a son of the late Russell George Beaver, Sr. and Ruth Ann Gangelhoff. He met his wife, Pauline Stringer, while on a hunting trip in Canada. He married her on October 5, 2007, in Pekin, and she survives.
Russ was a member in good standing of the United Auto Workers Union Local #974. He dedicated 33 years of his career as a machine repairman for Caterpillar Inc., retiring on July 1, 1999. While he wasn't a fan of his day-to-day work, he found a way to connect with his colleagues by enjoying his role in organizing all the pools.
In his younger years, he had a great passion for hunting, though it stopped shortly after he married Pauline. He found great joy in the outdoors, meticulously maintaining his property, especially the yard, and raising pheasants and chickens. He also loved to travel and cherished his beloved dog, Watson.
In addition to his wife, Pauline, Russ is survived by his stepson, David (Anh) Berrow of Ontario, Canada, and three step-grandchildren, Sophie, Lewis, and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Jonathan Berrow.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A celebration of life will be held on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
