

Born January 5, 1943 in Peoria to Warren W. and Geraldine A. (Cooke) Watson, she married Jon D. Barr on August 4, 1961 in Pekin. They later divorced.
Surviving are two daughters, Shelly (Hans) Hagen, III of Pekin and Tammy Carlton of Green Valley; one son, Damon Barr of Green Valley; nine grandchildren, Hans Hagen, IV, Stephanie Eertmoed, Stephanie Pasqualino, Nick (Natalie) Carlton, Zack (Jaci) Carlton, Shane (Nicole) Svendsen, Tierza Tosi, Dree Barr and Drake Barr; 11 great-grandchildren, Hans Hagen, V, Kaden Hagen, Alivia Eertmoed, Rose Pasqualino, Colin Eertmoed, Tucker Sutton, Ryder Broadfield, Zoey Carlton, Wren Fouts, Sawyer Svendsen and Charlotte Carlton and two sisters, Patricia Watson of Sacramento, California and Gloria (Raymond) Heyde of Danvers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Stanley Watson and Thomas Watson.
Sandy had worked as a cashier at Mr. K’s and Schnuck’s in Pekin for 30-plus years before retiring in 2000.
A loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, Sandy put her family and church family first and cherished time with her grandchildren.
Sandy was a charter member of Normandale Reformed Church in Pekin where she was active in the Women’s Guild.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
