

He was born on November 4, 1956, in Springfield, IL. A son of John J. and Shirley E. (Meredith) Ruschmeyer. Scott married Penny Kay Langenbahn on August 9, 2014, in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his two children, Amy Jo (Nick) Sangalli of Pekin and Anderson Lee "Andy" (Sarah) Ruschmeyer of Bartonville; one stepson, Michael James Reed of Pekin; four grandchildren, Millie, Ivy, Harper, and Abel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frederick Ruschmeyer and Thomas Ruschmeyer; and one sister-in-law, Karen Ruschmeyer.
He was a graduate of Pekin High School, Class of 1975.
Scott retired in November 2011 from Millwright Local 1693 out of Chicago. He previously worked for the New York Central Railroad from 1976-1977. Joined Carpenters Local 644 out of Pekin from 1978-1988. He stayed with Local 644 until joining Millwright Local 1051 out of Lincoln, IL in 1988. After retirement Scott worked as a snowplow driver for the City of Peoria Public Works Department for 12 years.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin. Scott was a 50-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was a former member and past president of the Pekin Motorcycle Club. He loved hunting, fishing, and motorcycles. Scott was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend. Scott especially loved being "Papa Scott" to his precious grandchildren. He had an incredible tender heart. He will be remembered as a compassionate and honest man who always tried to do the right thing and never knew a stranger.
Scott's memorial visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin. His memorial service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, April 17, 2026, also at the funeral home. Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate.
