Shirley Ann Allen

Born February 2, 1936, in Glasford to Fred C. and Freida E. (Koch) Krause, she married James F. Allen on June 30, 1957, in Glasford. He died April 14, 2007.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings, Lorene B. Girard, Elsie I. Sanders, Florence A. Wrigley, Lois E. Krause, Eugene F. Krause, Mary L. Heltzel, Joyce E. Tucker, and Roger A. Krause.

Surviving are her son, James (Carla) Allen of Gibson City; two step-grandchildren, Katherine (David) Rice of Nashville, Tennessee and Danielle (Zach) Kirby of Elliot and two step great-grandchildren, Oliver and Ivy Kirby.

Shirley was an administrative assistant for many years. She worked at Limestone Community High School in Bartonville for ten years and Waubonsie Valley High School for four years, retiring in 1995.

She enjoyed reading detective and mystery books, tending to her flowers and yardwork, and loved spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Shirley was of the Christian faith.

Her graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted with Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
