Sonja K Lyon

Born November 22, 1948 in Fairbury to Robert Judson and Marjorie Betty Ruth (Jean) Travis, she married Jon Lee Lyon on April 25, 1970 in Pekin.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Brett Michael Lyon of Pekin; one daughter, Kaley Beth Lyon of Pekin; one grandson, Ian Michael Jonnie Lyon of Pekin; one brother, Michael Travis of Pekin; and one sister, Janice Travis of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sonja was employed as a receptionist at Executive Styling Salon in Pekin for 15 years, last working in March, 2007. Previously, she had worked as a teacher's aid at the King's Kids Christian Center in Pekin.

She was a devoted wife of 37 years, a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandson, family and friends. She was a friend to all.

Sonja enjoyed decorating sweatshirts, walking around the Pekin park lagoon with her daughter, and collecting jewelry and Precious Moments.

She attended Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.

Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
