

Born October 18, 1935 in Jonesboro to Gaylord Humes and Mary Houseman, he married Edna Cabage on March 26, 1964 in Peoria. She died June 30, 2002 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Wright; one son-in-law, Kyrus Rhodes Jr.; and two grandchildren, Christopher Humes and Jackie Wright.
Surviving are four sons, Robert (Martha) Wright of East Peoria, Jack (Rena) Wright of East Peoria, Thomas (Linda) Humes, Jr. of Creve Coeur and Brian (Mary) Humes of Pekin; two daughters, Shirley (Kyrus) Rhodes of Peoria and Patricia (Phil) Freeman of Jasper, Indiana; 25 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Thomas served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He worked for F.W. Means in Peoria for close to 20 years. He later worked for Peoria Partition for close to 15 years.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation will be accorded following services.
