T.P. Miller

Born June 3, 1931 in Florence, Alabama to Oscar and Mary Lou Miller, he married Margaret Kelly on December 18, 1948 in Iuka, Mississippi. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Rita Sanders of Peoria, Carol Kinney of East Peoria; one son, Tracy Miller of Peoria; four grandchildren, Thomas Sanders, Jr., Jonathan Mooney, Weston (Dana) Sanders and Steven (Amber) Kinney; seven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

Pete had owned and operated Pete’s Barber Shop in East Peoria for 20 years. He then owned and operated Miller Upholstery in East Peoria for many years, retiring in 2007.

He enjoyed gardening and farming. He also enjoyed working his businesses for the many years. He was very skilled with his hands and it was said, “If he could make it, he wouldn’t buy it”. Pete was also a great mentor for his grandchildren.

A gathering celebrating Pete’s life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
