

Born January 1, 1941 to Alva and Ida (Epping) Herrin in Vandalia, she married Gerald “Jerry” Wallis on March 29, 1959 in Central City. He survives.
Also surviving are her four children, Jess (Shelley) Wallis of Pekin, Kim Compton of East Peoria, Michael (Patti) Wallis of Lake Ozarks, Missouri and Traci (Shawn) Dickinson of Metamora; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly), David, Jennifer (Kirk), Ryan (Susan), Hayden, Aaron (Kristin), Katie (Kyle), Nathan (Allie), Ashley and Jamie; 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way in March and her grand-dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her 12 brothers and sisters; one grandson, Shawn Sarver, one son-in-law, Bill Compton and granddaughter-in-law Gillian Cain.
A homemaker, Wanda found great joy in her family. She enjoyed tending to her gardens, sewing, crocheting, fishing, camping, and reading. Wanda would paint scenic landscapes or projects like birdhouse's Jerry had built. She was very proud to have handmade a baby blanket for every grandchild and great-grandchild.
A gathering celebrating Wanda’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Bay View Baptist Church in Washington. Pastor Keith Thibo will officiate. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no visitation.
