Ms. Agnes Wylie Hicks, age 95, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on December 15, 2025. Agnes was born in Florence, AL on May 21, 1930. She graduated from Waterloo High School where she was a high school cheerleader and played on the girls' basketball team. She then attended business school in Birmingham, AL.
Agnes spent a large portion of her adult life in Huntsville, AL. She worked at the telephone company, beginning as a long-distance operator and later in maintenance. She retired from Bellsouth (now AT&T) in 1995.
Agnes loved life. She was young at heart and a friend to all she met with a smile and laughter. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden during retirement.
Agnes is preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Hicks Turner, her father, Walter Wylie, her mother, Myrtle Womble Wylie, and brothers Adrian Wylie and Roy Wylie.
Agnes is survived by her grandchildren, Kathryn (Justin) Turner Stringer and Eric (Lizzie) Turner, her son in law, Ken Turner, her brother, Reuben Wylie, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2 p.m.
