Smith, Alfred Emanuel, age 83, of Birmingham, passed away Friday, December 26 2014. He was a native of Huffman, Alabama and a graduate of Tarrant High School. He worked for U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company for 45 years and retired as Sales Administrative Manager. He is preceded in death by parents Charles H. Smith and Edna H. Smith and wife of 54 years, Jane B. Smith. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by sons Alfred E “Bo” Smith, Jr. (Laurie) of Birmingham and Forrest B. Smith (Janine) of Smyrna, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Rebecca J. Smith, Sawyer H. Smith, and Peyton L. Smith. He is preceded in death by sisters Sarah Johnston and Billie Wade. He is also survived by siblings Bettye Hooten, Mary Charles Gann, Margaret McGillberry, Erskine Smith, Jim Smith, and Wayne Smith.The family will receive friends and family Tuesday 10:00-11:00 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Graveside service will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.
