

Ann is survived by her husband, Saverio; her children, Sammy Montalbano, Ben Montalbano (Jim Kovach) Houston, Texas; Vicki Montalbano O’Malley (Marty), Mobile, Alabama; Angie Dunston; Donna Montalbano (Jon Tanner), Pensacola Florida; Patti Montalbano Sansom (+Paul); her brother, Sal Romano (Peg), Merritt Island, Florida; Sister-in-law Ruby Romano; grandchildren; Megan Montalbano, Joseph Montalbano, Keelia O’Malley (Brandon Krsak), Kara O’Malley (Dave Murray), Patrick O’Malley (Hannah), Caitlin O’Malley, Donovan O’Malley, Dave Dunston, Michael Dunston (Lisa), Jeremy Knox, Michelle Duncan (Ryan), Helen Caroline Tanner, Emily Sansom and Sarah Zahn (Alex); great grandchildren; Theo and Benjamin O’Murray, Francis and Maeve O’Malley, Sam and Alexander Dunston, and Drew and Ryatt Duncan; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, Mary Ann Alfano Romano and Bernard Romano, and her brother Ben Romano. Ann was born in Birmingham, Alabama in June of 1933. She graduated from John Carroll Catholic High School, met and married the love of her life and soon began a family. Ann’s life was Faith, Family, Football and Food. She was a devout Catholic who lived her faith daily. She loved praying the rosary and visiting Catholic Churches around the world. Ann had a great sense of humor and she loved to laugh. Ann was a devoted wife who worked hand in hand with her husband building their businesses, raising their family, volunteering together and traveling extensively. She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made sure they all knew how much they were loved. All those who knew Ann, understood she was an avid Alabama football fan, ROLL TIDE. She never missed a football game and could tell you all the stats. Food was the center of many family gatherings. She loved Italian cuisine but had an appreciation for all foods and never hesitated to try something new. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew her.
Services will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1728 Oxmoor Road Homewood, Alabama. Visitation is Tuesday, July 13th from 5:00 to 6:30 followed by the rosary. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 14th at 1:00 pm. Those who have not had a Covid vaccine or anyone who wants extra protection please wear a mask.
