Jean graduated from Cordova High School and devoted much of her working life to care-giving for others. Her passions in life included her relationship with Jesus Christ, nurturing and enjoying time with her family, and traveling.
Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, James Douglas; her second husband, Charles Hyde; and her parents, William R. Brown and Hattie Ann Smallwood Brown.
Survivors include Jean's son, Dewayne Douglas (fiancé, Debra Burnett); three grandchildren, Cadie Douglas Smith (husband, Devin), Brad Douglas (wife, Jessica), and Brock Douglas (wife, Jennie); and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., immediately followed by A Service of Remembrance for Jean at 11 a.m. at the funeral home's chapel. Burial will be at Ryans Crossing Cemetery in Maylene, Alabama. Brother Ken Stroup will officiate.
