

Eloise was a long-time resident of Indian Springs. She grew up in the valley and graduated from Thompson High School in 1948. She went to business school before becoming the first secretary of Indian Springs School when it opened in 1952. She remained there until she married the love of her life, Jess, in 1954. She then traveled for the next 15 years with him to various locations while he served in the USAF. Upon his retirement in 1969, they moved to Alabaster for 25 years before returning to Indian Springs Village and making their home on the same property she grew up on.
Eloise was preceded in death by her husband Jess Barton; parents John Otto and Annie Crumley; siblings Ruth Crumley Harris; John Otto Crumley; Patsy Crumley Smith; Tommy Crumley. She is survived by her daughter Karen Barton; son Jon (Lisa) Barton; grandson Nick (Kaylee) Barton; granddaughter Lisabeth Barton; great-grandson Brooks Barton. Eloise was blessed with many special family including cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am followed by a committal service at 11:45 am at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. Rick Bishop officiating.
