
Betty Jean Cline Pryor, 86, passed from this life and into the arms of her loving Savior on December 31, 2017. She was a lifelong member of Lakeview Pelham's First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, played piano, was a member and served as President of the UMW. She also served as a missionary to Bolivia. She graduated from Alabama College and began her career teaching English, Physical Education and Coaching at Thompson Middle and High Schools for many years. In 1983 she was named Alabama American Mother of the Year and actively worked and served on their board of directors. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, M. Lyndal and Luther E. Cline and her son, Stephen L. Pryor. Survivors include daughters, Lindy P. Taylor and Holly A. Pryor; son, David B. Pryor (Tonya); daughter in law, Elizabeth "Libby" Pryor; sister, Mary C. Martin; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, students and countless friends she made through her love of Christ and her church. Services will be Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Southern Heritage Chapel. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m., with Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Lakeview Pelham's First United Methodist Church, 5154 County Road 11, Pelham, AL 35124, Alzheimer's Association, Alabama Chapter, 2151 Highland Avenue, #210, Birmingham, AL 35205 or the charity of your choice.
