

EDMONDSON, JR., CECIL L 72, of Pelham, Alabama, passed away on January 21, 2011, with his family at his side. He was born February 11, 1938, to Cecil L. Edmondson, Sr. and Madge Edmondson. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandson Brandon Allen Bailey. Cecil (Buddy) was a kind, loving and charming southern gentleman that loved and adored his family. He retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company in 1999, after 33 years of dedicated service. He was an Auburn graduate and served his country in the Marine Corps. He enjoyed his involvement in scouting from achieving Eagle Scout to serving many years as a scout master. He loved the outdoors and looked forward to family reunions at his childhood home in the mountains of West Virginia. Memories will be cherished by his wife Cheryl Edmondson; children Sheila Parker, Brigita Edmondson (Jeff Keen), Skip Edmondson (Lisa); grand-children Eric Bailey (Christy), Payton Edmondson, Sydney Edmondson; great grandson Mason Allen Bailey; sister Sharon Sims (Roy), niece Kelly Herron (Keith); nephew Roy Sims, III (Stevi); brother in law Mike Martin (Barbara) and Ponnie Edmondson. His memory will also be cherished by a host of cousins and many friends. The family invites you to join us in celebrating Cecil's life from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Southern Heritage, Pelham Alabama. Service will be held in the Chapel at Southern Heritage at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, with burial at Bryan Memorial Cemetery on Valleydale Road. Reverend Don Roser and Jerry Wooten will officiate. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and entire staff of Shelby Baptist Medical Center and to New Beacon Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Cecil and to his family.
