She was born in Earle, Arkansas on August 9, 1939 to the late Marvin and Louise Smith. Also preceding her in death is her granddaughter, Lily Grace Self; and her siblings, Crann Smith; John D. Smith; and Frances Johnsey.
Charlene is a graduate of Brookwood High School and on January 17, 1959, she married D.C. Thrasher. She worked for South Central Bell, Alabama Labels, and then later, along with her husband, owned and operated Midsouth Design. Charlene loved reading, swimming, cooking and sewing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 63 years, D.C. Thrasher; her three loving daughters, Tajuana (James) Efferson; Sheila Wortham; and Staci (Ashley) Self; her nine grandchildren, Erin Brooks; Holly Wortham; Eric Efferson; Amy Cain; Ethan Efferson; Carly Wortham; Regan Wortham; Luke Wortham; and Levi Self; along with 10 great-grandchildren, Callie Efferson; Brody Efferson; Cooper Efferson; Cecilia Cain; Bailey Efferson; August Efferson; Bria Brooks; Abigail Cain; Briggs Brooks; and Indy Efferson. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Luckie and her brother, Charles Smith.
Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service beginning at 11 am. Burial will follow at K-Springs Cemetery in Chelsea.
