Charles Thurman Prickett, Sr was born to Tarpley Alfred Prickett and Bernice Mae Drake on July 22, 1935. Charles graduated from Sylacauga High School in 1954 and the University of Montevallo in 1964. He worked for South Central Bell before starting his own accounting firm in 1971. Charles placed a blind ad in the newspaper for the business to which Meredith responded. The pair fell in love and were later married.
Charles was an avid bird hunter and outdoorsman. He loved to travel – Charles visited all 50 US states of which his favorite was Utah, most of the Canadian provinces, and Mexico. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dogs. Loved by many, Charles leaves behind his best friend and wife of 43 years Meredith Lang Prickett, his sons Dr. Charles Thurman Prickett, Jr. (Lynne), Charles Treawick Prickett (Samantha), his sister Peggy Ann Duke (Ray), his nieces Dena Heflin (Jimmy), Donna Rogers (Mark) and Danny Duke (Christine), his grandchildren Russell Prickett (Colleen), Leigh Stricklin (Justin), Lyndsey Bone (Patrick), Andrew Prickett (Melissa), and Laura Ann Holland (Jordan) as well as 13 great grandchildren.
Charles was a wonderful father and role model, a devoted husband, and a follower of Christ. His sense of humor impressed everyone and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, 9:00 to 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with a service following at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
