Born on September 5, 1948, in Weaver, Alabama, to the late J. Truman and Juanita Young Wilson, Charline lived a life centered on love, family, faith, and service. She graduated from Jacksonville High School and attended Jacksonville State University before marrying the love of her life, William E. Merritt, Jr. Together, they made their home in Anniston, Alabama, for more than thirty years—a place where they built countless memories and raised their family.
Charline dedicated 35 years to Regional Medical Center in Anniston as a Medical Transcriptionist, where her kindness, diligence, and gentle spirit touched all who worked beside her. A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of Golden Springs Baptist Church for many years, where she found joy, fellowship, and lasting friendships that enriched her life and the lives of others.
Yet her greatest joy and purpose were found in being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her daughter, Trumi, was her pride, and her grandchildren, Matthew and Megan, were her heart. She filled their lives with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love that will continue to guide them always.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Juanita Wilson; her beloved husband, W.E. Merritt, Jr.; and her precious grandson, William Matthew Wilkinson. She is survived by her daughter, Trumi Wilkinson; her son-in-law, David Wilkinson; and her granddaughter, Megan Wilkinson—each forever grateful for the warmth, strength, and love she gave so freely.
Charline’s family will remember her as the heart of every gathering, the voice of encouragement in every challenge, and the steady, loving presence that made every place she was feel like home. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
There will be a thoughtful prayer and remembrance held Saturday October 25th at 10 am at Asbury United Methodist Church in the outside Labyrinth Prayer Garden.
