Chesley Key Smith

He was born to the late David Chesley Smith and Minnie Mildred Key on July 3, 1933 in Birmingham, AL. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High school and went on to start a career in sales for 50 plus years until he retired. Chesley married the love of his life, Vivian Bodey Smith on June 4, 1949 in Carrollton, Georgia and were blessed with two children.

He had a passion for playing and watching golf and was able to travel around the world playing different courses. Chesley also loved watching Alabama football with friends and family. He was also privileged to be a part of the Masons and the Shriners.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Vivian Smith; daughter, Mickie Smith Hoover. Chesley leaves behind his daughter, Vivian Diane Smith; grandchildren, Ray Smith (Laura Lee), Robert Key Smith, Richard Smith; great-grandchildren, Patrick Key Smith (Abby), Cooper Smith, Bailey Smith

A visitation for Chesley will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
