Born on December 16, 1973, in Birmingham, Alabama, Chris lived a life full of passion, laughter, and dedication to others. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hueytown, Alabama.
A proud graduate of Hueytown High School, Chris went on to play baseball at Bevill State before attending his beloved University of Alabama. Roll Tide! He dedicated 27 years of his life to education (Chalkville Elementary School), where he made an immeasurable impact as both a teacher and a coach. He coached multiple sports throughout his career at Minor Junior High, Shades Valley High School, and Spain Park High School. But his greatest joy came from coaching his own sons and mentoring the youth of Oak Mountain. Whether on the sideline, the baseline, the court, or in the stands, he was happiest when cheering on his boys — his pride and joy.
Chris had an infectious spirit and a gift for humor that could light up any room. He was always ready for an adventure, whether that was a hike in the mountains, a day fishing by the water, or a peaceful night by a fire. He especially loved sharing those moments with his family. The beach, the woods, the game — he was truly at home anywhere, as long as he was with the people he loved.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Harold Herring Sr., Bertie Lou Johnson Herring, Lecil Odell Ingle, and Erlene Northcutt Ingle. He is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Mary Beth, and their three sons: Hunter (17), Jackson (17), and Jacob (13), who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Joe and Kathy Ingle; his sister, Jennifer Foster; brother-in-law, Bob Foster; niece, Kayden Foster; sister-in-law, Susan Schuessler; brother-in-law, Burt Schuessler; niece, Lauren Schuessler; nephew, Cannon Schuessler; mother-in-law, Mary Clyde Teague; and countless other family members and friends.
Chris had a special bond with lifelong friends John Hadder, Brantley Cain, and Richard Haley — and the list of those who loved him could truly go on forever.
The impact Chris made on the lives of those around him is beyond measure. His legacy lives on through the students he taught, the athletes he coached, and the many people he inspired with his energy, kindness, and humor.
Please continue to lift up his family in prayer as they navigate life without him — just as he would want them to: with strength, faith, and love.
Family and friends will visit at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 6-7 p.m., followed by A Celebration of Chris' Life at 7 p.m. Ridout's Southern Heritage is at 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
The family asks that you come as you are to the visitation and service on July 10. Chris was never one for formality — especially in the heat of an Alabama July. Please feel free to wear Alabama or Oak Mountain attire in his honor.
