

He was employed at US Steel and Inverness Elementary School where he retired in 2012 after 29 years. Donald also proudly served his country in the US Army and served in Vietnam.
He gave his life to Christ at a young age. Later in life he became a Church of Christ minister and dedicated his life to spreading the word of God and bringing others to Christ. Donald was a caring, hardworking and loving person who would always lend a helping hand to whoever was in need.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Hedy LaMarr Jones; his mother, Minnie Lee Jones; and his daughter, Stephanie Ray.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Erica (Alfonso) Hudson; his son, Scott Ray; grandchildren, Caitlyn Hudson; Christopher Major; Garrett Hudson; Sheldon Ray; Sydney Ray; and Ebonie Hudson; great-grandchildren, Kaden Hudson; Madisyn Hudson; Karmyn Anderson; Marion McDonald; and Ma’Liyah McDonald; lifelong friend and brother in Christ, Calvin Head; and a host of beloved family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11:00 am with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Alabama National Cemetery
