Don was born in Oxford, Alabama on January 26, 1959. After graduating from Oxford High School, where he was on the wrestling team, he attended Auburn University. Don was a salesman for Sunbelt Paper & Packaging for 14 years. In his spare time you could find him riding 4 wheelers with his son, riding his motorcycle and listening to music. He enjoyed salt water fish tanks and telling stories about his childhood. Don was a great man, always going the extra mile with anything he did, whether it was work, his friends, or his family. He loved his family so much.
Preceding Don in death are his grandparents, Lester and Bessie McCain; and his stepdaughter, Sheree Rich.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Karen Mize; his children, Steven Eugene Mize; Starr Gaither Kendrick; and Shaunda Mitchell; grandchildren, Noah Grace Stafford; Braylan Stafford; Rylan and Lincoln Mitchell; and Nolan Kendrick; his parents, Jack and Jean Mize; his siblings, Stephanie Hoffman and Deborah Waters; and his nephew, Sgt. Josh Waters (US Army). Also surviving him are his fur babies, Nudo, Shyla, and Mia.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm with a celebration of life service beginning at 4:00 pm.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Sunbelt Paper & Packaging family, its vendors and customers; the ladies at the Acton Road Kirkland Clinic Infusion Center; and all the many friends and family that touched Don’s life.
