

Donald Ray Strickland DMD, 86, of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 2, 2026. He was born in Birmingham, AL, on December 19, 1939, to William and Nellie Strickland. He graduated from Phillips High School. While in school, he was a part of Owen Literary Society, Chairman of the social committee, Club Stunts, Senior President, ROTC Sergeant, and on the riffle team. Donald went on to further his education and attended the University of Alabama, where he received his degree in Dentistry. He was a member of the Alabama Dental Association and earned several awards. He worked as a dentist for over 40 years.
Donald married Barbara Wilson Strickland and had many years together, making fun-loving memories together with friends and family. When he was not at the office, he spent his days fishing, tinkering around the house, and riding motorcycles across the United States. Donald was a member of the Heart of Dixie Harley motorcycle club.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Strickland, Donna Jo Fleet, brothers William B Strickland, DMD, Thomas Strickland, DMD, his parents William B Strickland and Nellie Brown Strickland.
Donald is survived by Linda Ellen Strickland Graham (Donald), and her son Donald RS Graham Jr. (Anh), and daughter Laurel S Graham Groseclose (Jared) and their children (Knox, Hadley, Bailey).
Donald is also survived by Mary Robin Gregory (Chuck), Mary Robin's children Michelle Maple (John) and Cierra Robinson(Dakota), and Cierra's daughter Sage, John Strickland (Georgia), John's children, John Strickland Jr. (Anna), Ashley Blake Murray and her children, (Madison and Grayson).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, with a service to follow in the chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Committal service to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
