

Duell Speegle, 88, of Birmingham, passed away peacefully January 23, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends. Duell was born in Cullman, Alabama to Isaac and Nervie Speegle on August 6, 1929. He attended Cullman High School where he met his wife Gilda and would have celebrated their 68th anniversary in February. He went on to join the United States Air Force. He later owned and operated S&S Appliances for 60 successful years. He was a devout member of Shades Crest Baptist Church. He enjoyed raising cattle, playing golf, and most of all spending time with his family. Duell is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers and a granddaughter. Duell is survived by his wife, Gilda Williford Speegle; sister, Hazel Rushing; Brothers Dorman (Dorothy) Speegle and Ray Speegle; Daughters Pam (David) Hagan; Marcia (Tim) Powers; Melanie (Mike) Fickling, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of Duell's life will be at 2:00pm Friday, January 26 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
