

Elizabeth P. Horton, 85 of Chelsea, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Elizabeth was raised in Martin, TN and married George M. Horton on June 10, 1954. That same year, she graduated from UT – Martin Branch. She taught elementary school in Union City, TN for many years. She had a passion for church library ministry from the early 60’s until her death, and was involved with leading national conferences. Elizabeth shared life and pastoral ministry with her husband, George, for 63 years.
Mrs. Horton is preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy L. Lynch and her sister, Thomasine Wadley. She is survived by her loving husband, George M. Horton; sons, John Horton (Paula) and Robert Horton (Tammy); brothers, John G. “Jerry” Penick (Mary Liz), Bill Penick (Jane) and Mike Penick (Barbara); grandchildren, Andrea Hosea (Nathan), Kendra Clarke (Tanner), Adam Horton (Chelsea), Tyler Horton, Rebekah Horton, Joshua Horton and Mia Horton; and great grandchildren, Nathan Hosea, Joshua Hosea and Jeremiah Hosea.
The celebration of Elizabeth’s life will begin with a visitation at 1pm, along with a service at 2pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Liberty Baptist Church, with burial following in the adjoining cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church library at Liberty Baptist Church.
