George David Howard Jr. passed away on January 8th, 2017 at the age of 66. George was well known for his promotion work with the NHRA and being inducted into the NHRA Hall of Fame. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. George loved his family and friends dearly; whom he would do anything for. He is preceded in death by his father, George David Howard Sr.; sisters, Nelda Workman and Linda Shackleford; his wife, Reba Collier Howard. He is survived by his mother, Nell Robertson Howard; wife, Sherry Howard; daughters, Mashone Howard Hutchison (Billy) and Brandy Howard Mitchell (Jonathan); grandsons, Austin Hutchison, Collier Mitchell, and George Houston Mitchell; step daughter, Brandy Russell (Brian); step grandchildren, Chandler Watkins, Chelsea Kyle (Adam), and Kate Ashton Russell; brothers, John Howard and Jim Howard (Jackie); and aunts, many nieces and nephews. There will be a Visitation on Wednesday the 11th at Southern Heritage Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm and a graveside service at Southern Heritage Cemetery at 11am on Thursday.
