KELLER, GEORGE EDWARD, SR., 86, died January 27, 2012, with his family by his side in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. Ed was born February 28, 1925, in Birmingham, Alabama to Fred S. and Thelma C. Keller. Ed was a long standing member at Shades Mountain Independent Church. He played football and baseball at West End High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and fought in WWII and the Korean War. He attended Auburn University and Howard University, and played professional baseball in the Georgia and Alabama leagues. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Jean Buechner Keller; son, George Edward Keller, Jr.; grandchildren, Jenny C. Jacka and Cpt. Luke A. Keller (Lt. Ashley Keller); as well as several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Miriam K. Myers, and brother, Fred S. Keller, Jr. Ed was a world class dominos player and enjoyed putting a smile on everyone's face with his witty sense of humor. Visitation will be held at 11:00 am Tues., January 31, 2012 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. Services will be at 12 noon. Graveside following.
