

He was born on August 7, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia. George obtained his BS from Georgia Tech. He loved gardening, American history, Auburn and Tech football and old movies. He was especially fond of John Wayne movies. Above all, he loved his family. Nothing in this world could bring out that smile as easily as talking about and spending time with his family.
George is preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Scott Oliver; and his brother, Alfred William Oliver.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Martha Sugg Oliver; his daughter, Melanie Oliver Justice (Howard); his two sons, Bryan Edward Oliver (Kathryn) and John Clifton "Cliff" Oliver (Melissa); seven grandchildren, Angela Hobbs Brower (Bill), James Brower, James (Jamie) Oliver, Kelly Oliver Bannon (Rob), Elizabeth "Libby" Oliver, Samuel "Sammy" Oliver, and Madelyn "Maddy" Oliver. Four great-grandchildren, Sophie Hobbs, Maddie Hobbs, Luke Bannon, and Brody Bannon. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Vickery.
There will be a family graveside service on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 1:00 pm at Midway Presbyterian Church in Powder Springs, Georgia.
