Glinda Ellen Jones Boone, 79, a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother of Bessemer, AL, passed from this life on Thursday, September 10, 2020 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
Glinda was born January 27, 1941, near Barr, MS, the eldest child of Wilborn Teamous and Margaret Brownlee Jones. She was a distant cousin of the frontiersman and scout Davey Crockett through her maternal grandmother, Virginia Elizabeth Crockett Brownlee.
Glinda was a cheerleader and a member of the first high school graduating class of Harding Academy of Memphis in 1959. She attended Old Dominion College while living in Norfolk, VA.
Upon marrying her high school sweetheart, Victor Boone, she accompanied him on his stateside duty assignments to Norfolk, VA; Oxford, MS; and San Diego, Alameda, and Long Beach, CA. With Victor's transfer to the Naval Reserve in 1970, Glinda accompanied him on his telephone company assignments to Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL.
Her employers over the years included Ames and Brownlee Department Store, Norfolk, VA; Chambers Manufacturing Co. and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil and Sedimentation Lab, Oxford, MS; Petroleum Gas, Roberts & Son Printing, Sears Roebuck, and Homewood Day School, Birmingham. For 20 years, Glinda did home cleaning throughout Hoover and Vestavia.
She was an excellent cook and involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, who knew her as Mamoo. She was a faithful member of the Riverchase Church of Christ and active in the Live Wires senior member group.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 60 years, Victor Boone, and three children: Renee' Rose (Jeff) of Hoover; Dawn Beck (Roger) of Harvest, AL; and Victor Reuben Boone of Alabaster.
Glinda, also, leaves nine grandchildren: Stephanie McMurtrie (Kevin) of Northport, AL, Jennifer Rose of Northport, AL, Kristen Clemmons (Tyler) of Chattanooga, TN, Collin Rose of Hoover, AL, Kinsey Curtis (Tyler) of Searcy, AR, Delaney Dunaway (Andrew) of Athens, AL, Jesse Beck (Taylor) of Searcy, AR, Hallie Beth Beck of Harvest, AL, Jacob Boone of, Alabaster, AL; five great grandchildren: Liam McMurtrie. John Luke McMurtrie, Elliott McMurtrie, Breanna Curtis, Josiah Curtis; one great-great grandchild: Madison French.
Others left behind include her brothers, Bill Jones of Searcy, AR and Kent Jones (Marie), Romance, AR, sister, Janice Pickard (David), Mablevale, AR; and six nieces and two nephews.
