January 1, 1927 - May 7, 2016
Herbert Law, Jr. was born January 1, 1927 in Andalusia, AL. He was predeceased by parents, John Herbert Philip Law and Essie Myers Law.
Herb is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret Raughton Law; sons, Phil (Charlotte) of Fairhope, AL, Robert (Laurie) of Thomson, GA, Tammy Law Carpenter of Monroe, GA, and Suzanne Law Bruner (Bob) of Birmingham, AL; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Zane Wilder (William) of Birmingham; and nephew, Bill Wilder of Birmingham.
Herb served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, where he served as an Elder, and later a member of Point Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL. He was a graduate of The University of Alabama and an "off the charts" football fan. (Roll Tide!) His profession was tax consulting and management.
Herb's purpose in life was to know Christ, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, so that he may attain to the resurrection from the dead. This passion led him into many prisons and onto mission trips at home and abroad, all to fulfill Jesus' command to go into all the world and make disciples.
The graveside service will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016, followed by a memorial service and visitation at Briarwood Presbyterian Church Chapel at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Briarwood Presbyterian Church (Missions), Prison Fellowship, or a charity of your choice.
