Herbert Pharis Davis, age 88 of Wilsonville, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015. Mr. Davis was a member of Union United Methodist Church. He worked most of his life in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator at Ellard Contracting, Inc. He was also co-owner of Dempsy and Davis Excavating during the late 60’s. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 312.
Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Salser. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Acker Davis; children, Melvin P. Davis of Lutz, FL, Glenn H. Davis of Newbern, AL, Stanley D. Davis of Westover, AL and Regina Davis Fisher of Birmingham, AL; sister Lorene Hughes; 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
The celebration of Herbert’s life will be at 3pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Union United Methodist Church – The Church at Chelsea Park, with burial following in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Davis may be made to Union UMC or the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
