

Jacqueline (Jackie) Nelson (95) of Hoover, Alabama passed away quietly on July 7, 2025 while recovering from a sudden stroke. She was a very special lady that served her family, the church, and her community. She was born on January 12, 1930. She is preceded in death by her husband J.C Nelson and her parents Elijah and Cora (Templeton) Gravette. She was an only child. She and JC grew up in Albertville, Alabama. She is Survived by her sons Michael (Jeanne) and Steven (Geri) Nelson. She had five grand children: Jamie (Zachariah), Megan (Andy) , Jake (Jen), Sam (Daniel), and David (Ava). Followed by 8 great grand children: Elijah, Crosby, Hank, Penny, Grayson, Maggie, Mila, and Lana. She also has cousins Gay Nell Vance and Mary Templeton, Wanda Johnson, Leila Ansley, and Dean Templeton (Elizabeth). Lastly, she has a long time family friend Donald Driver that lives in Albertville.
Ms Jackie was active in her church serving with the administration and preparing meals. She just completed making more than 200 of her famous cucumber sandwiches for vacation bible school. She also helped out at the Hoover Senior Center helping with lunches and helping with meals on wheels.
She loved anything chocolate and made some great desserts. She will be missed by so many people in the church and the community.
Jackie worked in several different fields including real estate and several different department stores over the years. She and her husband started their marriage at Auburn University, and then lived in Birmingham after JC graduated. They transferred back and forth to Pittsburgh, PA with US Steel and they had many good friends in that area of the country. She was also quite the historian on Albertville and the surrounding area
Services will be held at Shades Crest Baptist church in Hoover, Alabama. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 PM followed by a service at 3:00 pm on Friday July 11, 2025. Interment will precede for the family at Alabama National Cemetery
