James Edward Grammer, Jr., age 59, of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away Monday evening, April 29, 2019. He was born in Bessemer, Alabama on August 19, 1959, and lived in the Birmingham, Alabama area all of his life.
“Jim” was employed as a truck driver with America’s Thrift Stores for the past 15 years. He was a member of Helena Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Helena, Alabama, and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, James Grammer Sr. and Juanita Crowder Grammer; and a brother-in-law, Howard McKluskey.
Survivors include Jim’s wife of 31 years, the former Karen Ruth Johnson; two sons, James Grammer and Jason Grammer; three sisters, Connie Batson, Judy (Larry) Woodard, and Debbie McKluskey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Celebration of Jim’s Life at 3 p.m. at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Pastor Mike Ensminger will officiate.
