James "Rick" Pennington

James "Rick" Pennington, age 72, of Pelham, AL, passed away on April 11. 2026. He was born to James and Christine Pennington on September 25. 1953, in Vernon, AL. Rick was a graduate of West End High School and went on to further his career in the Gas Industry. He enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a surveyor with Alagasco, later known as Spire, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his career. Even in retirement, he remained active, working with Publix and continuing to connect with others in his community. In his younger years, he was a proud member of the ROTC at West End High School, an experience that reflected his sense of discipline and service. In his leisure time, he found great joy in time spending time with his beloved grand dogs, who brought him immense happiness.

Along the way, he met and married the love of his life, Sandra Lynn Towers Pennington. Rick is preceded by his wife, "Sandy" Pennington; son, Chris Pennington, parents, James and Christine Pennington; and sister, Tammy Pennington.

He leaves behind his daughter, Chelsea Pennington; twin brother, "Nick" Pennington, and his wife, Lee, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, US, on April 16, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Committal Service will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Rd, Pelham, AL 35124, US, on April 16, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
