

He was born in Franklin County, Tennessee on November 14, 1933. Jim received a degree in Finance from the University of Georgia and an MBA/Finance degree from Emory University. He retired from BellSouth Telephone Company in 1995 after serving as both the Secretary and Treasurer.
Jim married Myra in 1995, and they had 30 wonderful years together. He was an active member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church and was an integral part of his Sunday School class. Jim had a passion for country music, playing the guitar, songwriting and singing with Myra. He also was an avid reader and golfer.
He is survived by wife, Myra M. Simpson, his children, Lisa (Mark) Barry, Clint (Tracey) Simpson, Tim (Jalon) Weinmeister, Kathy (Dudley) Fincher, stepchildren, Brad (Elizabeth) Byerley and Beth (Carlisle) O’Meara, grandchildren, John (Cassie) Barry, William (Ali) Barry, Walker, Reese Olivia and Halle Simpson, Emory and Owen O’Meara, Morgan and Jackson Byerley, and great-grandson, Braxton Barry.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James D. Simpson and Mary Simpson.
In lieu of flowers sent to the family, Jim wished for donations to be made to Meadow Brook Baptist Church or the Big Oak Ranch.
