Janice began her professional career working at Life Alabama in Gadsden.
On December 20, 1969, she married H. Michael Mauldin in Gadsden, Alabama.
Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Tuscaloosa, where Michael pursued his PhD at The University of Alabama. Janice worked at the Alabama Credit Union during this time.
In 1974, Janice became a mother and chose to step away from her career to devote herself fully to the role she often said she was meant for-being a mommy. Family was always at the center of her life, and her grandchildren were truly her heart and soul.
Janice loved the outdoors and treasured time spent in nature. For many years, she and her family backpacked together in the Smoky Mountains every fall, creating cherished memories. She also dearly loved the beach, the warmth of the sun, and the peace she found by the water.
Janice and Michael together with Cindy and Allen were avid Harley riders for many years and took lots of trips cross country to various rallies and celebrations along the way.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Janice loved to sing in the choir and found great joy in her newest Highlands church family, where she especially cherished outreach and opportunities to serve others.
Janice will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of nature, her servant's heart, and the quiet joy she found in life's simple, meaningful moments. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely and the lives she so tenderly nurtured.
Janice leaves behind those who loved her most: her husband of 56 years, H. Michael Mauldin; her daughter, Melissa Mauldin Ferguson, and son-in-law Michael (Mike) Ferguson; her grandchildren, Bryson Carter Welborn, age 21, and Adaline Grace Ferguson, age 9; her sister, Cindy Blackwell; and her brother-in-law, Allen Blackwell. Each carries forward her love, her strength, and her gentle spirit.
