He is survived by his wife, Kay, and sons James Blake Frazier and wife Bufkin (Birmingham), and Stephen Scott Frazier (Gainesville, FL); grandchildren, Joshua Trace Chellman (Tallahassee, FL), Bryan Scott Frazier, Ellen Alyse Frazier and Nolan Blake Frazier. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff, Sr. and Doris Watts Frazier, sister Brenda Margaret Frazier Smith and son, Jeff Edward (Trace) Frazier, III.
Jeff was born in Jackson, MS where he lived until his career took him to Tallahassee, FL and Gainesville, FL. He attended Provine High School, Hinds Community College, The University of Southern Mississippi, and obtained advanced degrees from Mississippi College.
Jeff spent the first part of his career coaching, teaching and counseling before transitioning to a career in insurance. He retired in 2011 from Florida Farm Bureau where he held several management positions and received many awards. After retirement, he and Kay moved to Birmingham.
Jeff was a gym rat. He was a 2-year Mississippi Golden Gloves Champion in high school, ran marathons, coached, umpired and spent his retirement days as ‘mayor’ of Planet Fitness. But his favorite retirement activity was watching Ellie and Nolan play ball, any kind of ball, and spending summers and vacation time with Josh and Bryan.
He enjoyed telling a good story and making people laugh. He could be heard in the midst of strangers saying, “What’s your name?” “Where are you from?” “What school did you go to?”
