

Born on August 25, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, John Lee lived a life defined by hard work, vision, and perseverance. For more than forty years, he built and led successful business ventures—not only to provide for his family, but also to serve and strengthen his community. Known as an innovative entrepreneur in the optical business and a steadfast leader, he believed in creating opportunities for others while treasuring the relationships he built with his clients.
Beyond his business accomplishments, John Lee will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 24 years, Carol Sasser, whom he deeply cherished and was rarely seen without by his side.
John Lee was preceded in death by his parents, William Clinton Sasser Sr. and Ollie Powers Sasser. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Sasser; his son, Clint Sasser (Bobbi); his daughters, Mary Griffin Lucas (Mark) and Caroline Gray (Dustin); and his cherished grandchildren, Jordan Sasser (Natalie), Anna Catherine Sasser, Emma Caroline Sasser, Charlie Reid Sasser, Grant Sasser, Amelia Lucas, and Benjamin Lucas. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. William Sasser (Susalee); nephew, Dr. Will Sasser (Caroline); and niece, Carrie Whitaker (Jonny).
John Lee found his greatest peace on the water with a fishing pole in hand, and his family and friends will forever treasure the memories of those quiet moments spent together.
A service to honor John Lee Sasser's life will be held at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on September 20, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Nebo Methodist Church in Clanton, Alabama.
