

CANNON, JOSEPH E., 55, of Birmingham, Alabama, was called home to Heaven on Friday morning, September 16, 2011. Joey was born in Birmingham on July 9, 1956. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1975 where he wore the number 32 football jersey. After attending Jacksonville State University, he married his high school sweetheart, Diane Cannon, on March 24, 1978. They lived in Birmingham, but also spent many weekends, vacations, and holidays with friends in Grayton Beach, Florida, where they had a second home. Joey served as president of ABF, Inc. and enjoyed many outdoor hobbies and short track racing with his son, Jason. Joey was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Cannon; his parents, Joe Cannon and Frances Cannon Horsley; and one brother, John Cannon. Survivors include Joey's son, Jason Cannon and his wife Lauren; sisters-in-law, Debra Cannon, Donna Jones, Darlene Hinson, and Denise Black; one grandson, Luke Cannon; nieces, Meredith, Leigh Ellen, and Anna Claire Black, and Rachel Jones; nephews, Colby Cannon, Mitchell Jones and John Michael and Matthew Hinson; and numerous close friends. Joey will be greatly missed. The visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by the 11 a.m. service on Monday, September 19, 2011 in the chapel of Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Rev.
