Joy "Bill" William Snider

Bill was born on August 17, 1931, in Oak Grove, Alabama to the late Robert and Alice Snider. He attended Oak Grove High School where he played football and was a standout track star. Bill proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He loved his family and friends more than anything. Bill was a huge fan of the Auburn Tigers. He owned and operated a service station for many years and ran and owned his own excavating company until he retired.

Bill was preceded in death by his sisters Bobbie Vernon and brother-in-law Charles Vernon, Lorraine Irvin and brother-in-law Ralph Irvin and his brother Wayne Snider. He is survived by his son Douglas William Snider (Cathy) of Columbiana, AL and daughter Renee Snider Buchanan of Chelsea, AL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin McCord Snider (Meredith), Douglas William “Will” Snider, Jr. (Morgan), Kelly Elizabeth Snider and Saylor Brooke Buchanan all of Chelsea, AL; great grandchildren Banks, Baylor Ann, Blakely, Tripp and Davis Snider all of Chelsea, AL. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth Snider (Linda) of Albany, GA and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL. Pastor Tim Cox officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin Snider, Will Snider, Lee Irvin, Bob Vernon, Guy Snider, Buddy Coker, Mike Harris and Randy Lucas.
