Joyce S. Payne, 88 of Hoover, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017. She was a faithful member of Hunter Street Baptist Church for over 10 years, and she was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster. Mrs. Payne is survived by her daughters, P.J. Scheirer (Ed) and Donna Wildsmith (Dennis); brother, Donald Strickland (Maria); sister-in-law, Joyce Thomas (Larry); grandchildren, Ed Scheirer, Jr. (Sheryl), Chris Barnes (Tammy), Cathie Weber (Greg), Emily Jackson (Troy), Tim Wildsmith (Becca), Kevin Kriss (Kellie) and Traci Velebil (Tony); eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews and other extended family that she loved and were very dedicated to her. The celebration of Joyce's life will begin with a visitation at 1pm followed by a service at 2pm on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery. Rev. Tim Wildsmith will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Alabama.
