

She worked for BCBSAL for 34 years before retiring to spend time with her family. Simply known as Granny to many, she was loved dearly by all.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jerry Thompson; her two children, Jesslyn Dyson and George A. Whaley (Deborah); her five grandchildren, Lauren Sands (Jonathan), Alex Whaley (Jordan), David Dyson (Laura), Josh Whaley (Shelby), Daniel Dyson (Melinda) and Joseph Cheek.
Her pride and joy were her four great grandchildren, Jay Whaley, Lynleigh Dyson, Layla Dyson and Coleson Whaley. She is also survived by her sister, Robin Barker-Chambers (Tim) and two nephews, Blake and Parker Chambers.
The celebration of Judy’s life will be at a graveside service at 2pm on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Snead, AL. The family will host friends at a visitation from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in honor of Mrs. Thompson be made to the American Cancer Society.
