Kathy graduated from Norwalk High School and received her undergraduate degree in education from Bowling Green State University. Her professional background included years as a junior high school English teacher, where she always had a passion for molding young minds.
After moving to Alabama, Kathy became full-time, stay-at-home mother to her two daughters, Nicole and Marcie. Her family was always her first priority. All who knew her would say she always had an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on. You never knew when her goofy sense of humor would come out and make your day brighter. Many neighborhood kids and Nicole and Marcie’s college friends thought of her as a second mom.
With a shared passion for traveling, Kathy and her husband Gus had many adventures throughout the world. At the glaciers of Iceland, the ruins of Greece, and the beaches of Hawaii, you could always find them hand in hand enjoying life. Upon becoming a grandmother, Kathy's devoted most of her focus and attention to watching her two grandsons grow.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Penelope Angelas; one sister, Helen James; one brother, George Angelas; and one brother-in-law, David Thill.
Survivors include Kathy's husband, Dr. Augustus "Gus" Fotos, to whom she was married on January 6, 1968; two children, Nicole Fotos Creuzer (Lee) and Marcie Sophia Prescott (Travis); grandchildren, Alexander Creuzer (14) and Nicholas Prescott (7); brother and sister, Gus Angelas (Connie) and Paulie Thill; and niece and nephews, Stacy James, Randy James (Micha), Christopher Angelas, and Jonathan Thill (Abbie).
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2870 Acton Road, Birmingham, AL 35243. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m., followed by A Service of Celebration for Kathy's Life at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama. Father Josiah Renger will officiate.
